In 2021 Gisarte collaborated in the innovation project "Local Water Information System for drought risk reduction and water governance with a watershed approach, Suchitoto, El Salvador", supported by AECID and managed by CERAI. A spatio-temporal analysis of land cover in the municipality of Suchitoto and a high-resolution spatio-temporal study of the Sucio river basin were carried out, observing the evolution of vegetation through different spectral indices of vegetation and humidity.
The study of the Suchitoto region was analysed over a long time series, since 2001, at medium resolution and using resources available on the NASA AppEEARS website.
For the Sucio river basin, a 30-month time series was analysed at high resolution from Sentinel 2 images.
