In 2022 Gisarte was selected to participate in the Quarry Life Award, a scientific and educational competition run by Heidelberg Cement that aims to raise awareness of the value of biodiversity in quarries and share new practices with the scientific community, NGOs, authorities and the group's operating units.
Gisarte's proposal focuses on the Rezola quarry, Arrigorriaga, and aims to study the capacity of biodiversity and quarry ecosystems in the face of climate challenges, so that strategies can be established to preserve and increase biodiversity in quarry environments.
